Carli’s 7 things

Welcome to my monthly newsletter!
Once a month, I’ll share seven of my thoughts, feelings, and current obsessions with you, in the hopes that you might relate, find relief, or be comforted to know that you are not alone in your parenting journey.
I’ll also share a few products that I’m really loving and where to find them.
Then I’ll throw in some extras like good music recommendations, books, binge worthy shows, and a quick, easy recipe to whip up and feed your face while continuing to carve your butt print into the couch because your baby is cluster feeding and you can’t escape.

1. No one talks about the art of pumping before you have a baby.

No one tells you that you should probably learn how to use your pump BEFORE you actually need it.

I learned this the hard way when I used my Willow Pump. Let me just say, that it’s an ABSOLUTE LIFESAVER, and I don’t know what I would’ve done without it, having a toddler and a newborn at home. But, the first time I used it 🤦‍♀️

Boy, do I wish I would have listened to the instructions of detaching it over a bowl. Not only did I lose all my milk, but it landed ALL. OVER. MY. FABRIC. COUCH. I felt like a real winner that day.

Anywhoooo… once I learned how to use it properly it was amazing and I highly recommend it .

2. What’s in my ears:

If you don’t know about the Julia Louis-Dreyfus Podcast, Wiser Than Me, now you do and you can thank me later!

Julia interviews older women in their 3rd Act of Life and its BRILLIANT! From Jane Fonda to Fran Lebowitz, their wealth of knowledge and sense of humor about aging is priceless, with lessons we all need to hear and learn. I can’t say enough good things about it. Just listen!

3.

What I’m snacking on…

Rice Cakes. Almond Butter. Blackberries.

It’s the most amazing concoction and I don’t want to share how many of these I’ve eaten this week. Try it, then send me a pic of your happy, full face, because I know it will be.

4. About three weeks after I had Zoe Tegan, @sbsolly showed up with a box of new sneakers for me and it was such a wonderful present.

I’d been gifted tons of new things, but it was all for the baby or to go along with the postpartum journey. The gift of a brand new pair of shoes was so unexpected and so awesome because it was just for me.

I have my eye on these Chucks from Free People so if you’re in need to match your constant wearing of black leggings here is a link. I love the sunflower detail.

5. I rate books in terms of junk.

As an example, there is well written TV junk - ie. Schitts Creek and then there is terrible junk ie. Reality TV.

I LOVE well written junk, so if you are currently nursing and looking for something to do instead of doom scrolling Instagram then check out It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey.

It is an actual Schitts Creek inspired, spicy romance page turner, that blew up on TikTok and will distract you while your boobs are being used as udders.

6. My favorite print of the month has to be the Silly Siren’s Fire Truck. I think within all the prints that we’ve created the hose is my favorite character. He is just so stinking cute and the names people have given him have been hilarious! If you’d like to add to the list, please reply! I love to hear them. This is a limited stock print and they are flying out of our warehouse fast, so here is a link to shop them before they are gone.

7. Current obsession: Ouai Body Scrub.

After a long day of giving your body to everyone else. There is NOTHING better than getting into the shower. This body scrub smells AAAAAAMAZING and it feels so so nice on your skin. Even now with a 6 and 4 year old at home, taking 10 minutes to rejuvenate is my saving grace, and it was especially, in those first few months with my newborn babies.

I hope you take something away from this first newsletter that either brightens your day, feeds your face, or makes you talk to your girlfriends about the scene in the green dress. When you get to the chapter, send me a NOTE!

If there’s anything you would like to see in future newsletters, please reach out to me by email or DM me on Instagram. I am so excited to virtually meet all of you, become friends, and look forward to organizing meet ups, so we can hang out in person!

HAPPY EARLY MOTHERS DAY!

Warmest,

Carli ⭐️
